Klaus-Jürgen Helmut Füchsel of Warrenton, Virginia, known to many as “Dok Klaus”, passed away peacefully at home with his family on May 13, 2024, after 3 and a half years of battling brain cancer.
Klaus was born on May 5th, 1960, in West Berlin, Germany to Heinz Füchsel and Christa Mühl (nee Molkenthin). Klaus is survived by his loving wife Virginia Palmer-Füchsel, his sister Angelika Füchsel, daughters Silvia Füchsel, Melanie Millman (partner Adam), and Martha le Roux (partner Gert), granddaughter Liela le Roux, mother-in-law Martha Palmer, and 11 nieces and nephews.
Klaus met Virginia during her doctoral studies in Berlin. They were married on June 14th, 1985, and then together they experienced the turbulent times before and after the fall of the Berlin Wall.
Klaus studied Mathematics and Computer Science at the Freie Universität Berlin, completing his master’s degree in 1988. He was passionate about his vinyl record collection, especially those records that he got personally signed at concerts and events. He loved taking his daughters to the movies, catching Pokémon around town, taking photographs, singing with the family, and traveling around the world for work and family.
His career as a software engineer with Siemens AG brought him and his family to the US in 1999, followed by the move to Warrenton in 2001. In 2002 he translated his experience and skills with computers and networking into a family business – Dok Klaus Computer Care. He worked days and nights to help the local community with computer issues and IT needs.
